BLACKTHORN
Blackthorn is a Vancouver (Canada)-based folk group whose repertoire celebrates the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland as well as folk music of English and French Canada.
The group formed in 1988 performing in local coffee houses and bars, expanding their horizons since then to include large-scale concerts, festivals, conventions, weddings, parties and private functions throughout western Canada and parts of the US.
From lively jigs and reels to heart-wrenching airs and ballads, savour the melodies and intricately woven harmonies that bring this music to life in a new way, mixed with humour and above all else, fun.
DAMIAN BRENNAN
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the youngest of ten children, Damian grew up surrounded by traditional Irish music. Self taught on the guitar and bodhran (Irish flat drum), he was mentored on the whistle by All Ireland Whistle Champion; Gogi McCulloch. Damian Brennan is a wonderful musician and performer, who’s good-nature and gift for the craic, spills over into every up-beat performance.
CEASE AND DESIST
Collectively on the live stage, Cease & Desist have shared the spotlight with the likes of: David Foster, Randy Bachman, The Guess Who, Cheap Trick, Colin James, Rare Earth, Burton Cummings, Jeff Healy, Blondie, The Odds, Streetheart, Loverboy, The Tragically Hip, Canned Heat, Kansas, Three Dog Night, David Lee Roth, The Beach Boys, Alabama, and the list goes on and on… Yet they remain so humble!
GARY COMEAU
Although Gary’s own roots are French-Acadian-he was born and raised in Nova Scotia, his soul seems to have taken a long and inspiring detour through Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta. Playing a range of instruments including guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and piano, Gary delivers originally crafted, high energy, New Orleans-style rockin’ roots and blues.
THE ECCLESTONS
This band, formed by brother and sister Kelt and Colleen Eccleston, and their ‘adopted’ brother Greg Madill, blend the spirit of an Atlantic kitchen party with the beauty of a warm Pacific summer’s night. The stage pulses with harmony in their amazing original songs and the fresh-found delight of traditional Celtic songs rediscovered. Their musical virtuosity is evident as they switch instruments to match the nature of each song. Not only that, but it’s fun! The sheer exuberance of their performance is matched by the delight of an audience who together lean into the music – united by song.
